Emil Tzeinski
Iconographer & Graphic Artist
Emil Tzeinski is a classically trained iconographer and graphic artist whose work bridges ancient tradition and modern spiritual expression. Originally from Bulgaria and now based in Italy, Emil has been creating sacred art for over 25 years, combining Byzantine iconography with natural materials and a deep sense of inner contemplation.
His teaching emphasizes quiet reflection, personal attention, and a reverence for artistic process. Through hands-on guidance and moments of silence, Emil helps each participant uncover their own connection to beauty and meaning.
Emil has led courses and workshops in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, in both religious and cultural settings. His classes are open to all levels and center around traditional tempera-on-wood techniques, including drawing, gilding, and painting with natural pigments. All materials are provided, and students leave with their own completed icon and a renewed sense of creative stillness.
His work has been recognized at the highest levels. In 2024, Emil was awarded an honorary diploma by the Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs for his outstanding contribution to promoting Bulgarian culture in Italy. He was honored at the 145th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between Italy and Bulgaria at Palazzo Isimbardi in Milan, where his icons and graphic works were featured in a special exhibition.
In 2023, Emil presented his solo exhibition “Icons and Graphics” at the historic Villa Cusani Confalonieri in Carate Brianza, under the patronage of the Municipality of Carate Brianza and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria. The event was opened with a blessing by the Bulgarian
Orthodox Church in Milan and received praise from both local and international dignitaries.
Emil welcomes the dialogue between art and spirituality in all its forms and considers every painting an opportunity to create something sacred and personal.
